How to Create a Personalized Back Cover
Before you get
started, make sure –
1. 1. Your
school is participating in the program. Visit
http://www.betteryearbook.com/list_participating.htm to check.
2. You
have all of your pictures, clip art, and messages ready before you start
the personalization as you will not have the ability
to save your work to come back to later.
3. You
do one personalized page for one child only.

To get started on the
back cover personalization, click on “Start Now”
link.
Adobe Flash Player, version 10.0 or higher is required to run
the program.
(Download the current version by clicking on “Download”
if you need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player.)
1) 1.
IMPORT OUR PICTURES
You will be prompted to import your pictures when you open the program.
Click on “Get Pictures.” Select all of the pictures you want
to import for the personalized back cover and upload them to the
program. Use the control key to select multiple pictures.
Click open and the pictures will upload to the Image panel.
2) 2.
ADD TEMPLATE
Click on “Add Template” and select a template you wish to use for your
page. Drag and drop the template onto the page and you will see your
template
3) 3.
ADD IMAGES
Click on “Add Images” and drag and drop images into template frames. If
you need more pictures, import additional pictures, then drop them into
the picture frames in the template. You have the ability to move,
resize, and rotate the text box to get the look you want. You also have
the ability to move, resize, and rotate the pictures to get the look you
want.
4) 4. ADD
A BACKGROUND
There are over 100 backgrounds to choose from. Click on “Add
Background” and choose which works the best for you. Click on the
background of your choice and it will show up on your page. Click on
“Add Background” and click on the background you want to use.
5) 5.
ADD TEXT
To include a personal message, click on “add text”. This will highlight
the text box. Type what you wish to say into the “Add Text” panel (not
in the text box.) You can make changes to the font style, color and
size by using the font effects in the bottom left panel. When the
message is how you want it, click the ‘done’ button to set the message.
If you need to add additional text, just click “Add More Text”. Type
your message, make any modifications to font, color, size, etc. then
click “Done” and it will added to the page.
6) 6.
ADD STUDENT INFORMATION
At the bottom of the page, add the name of your child, grade level, and
room number. This helps the advisor get your yearbook to your child.
These fields are movable so the information fits how you want it to.
7) 7. SAVE
THE FILE
When you are happy with the look of your page, click on SAVE at the top
right of the page. Choose the school name from the drop down list, your
child’s grade level, your child’s room number, and you’re your child’s
first and last name. This information will be used to create a file
name specific to your child’s school. Click “Save.” The more pictures
you have put on the page, the longer it will take to save. Pay
attention to where the file is saved on your computer when that window
pops up. The page will be saved as a JPG in this format:
schoolname_gradelevel_roomnumber_lastname firstname. Jpg.
Open the file from your documents folder to make sure
it saved correctly.
8) 8. UPLOAD
THE FILE
To submit the file to Better Yearbook’s server, go back to http://www.betteryearbook.com/personalized_backcover.htm,
and follow Step 3 to upload your saved file to the Better Yearbook
server. Click on “Browse” to find the file in your documents folder.
Click “Open,” then click “Upload.” Wait until the next screen appears
to let you know your file has been successfully uploaded.
9) 9. EMAIL
CONFIRMATION
After you have successfully uploaded the file, you will see EMAIL link
on the next screen. Email us according to the direction, and we will
review your submitted file and email you back the confirmation for your
record.
